An overview of how Games for Change has a focus on the art, science and design of making media that matters. Attendees can explore experiences that span learning, health, training, social impact, civics and more; that are made through games and other media like animation, location-based installations, augmented reality, mobile devices, robotics, interactive performances, transmedia storytelling, etc. Transformational experiences happen through well-designed media with the potential to impact our lives in meaningful ways. Through several sessions at the G4C Festival, we can see how this occurs across different topics, media, groups and contexts, and how to apply methodical techniques to discover fundamental principles and best practices in order to design and assess the experiences that a user, player, or guest can have. These sessions help illustrate the expressive potential of meaningful media to provide dynamic transformational experiences that enhance how we engage in the world.
